How do I connect to FTP using Cyberduck?

Cyberduck is a free server and cloud storage browser for Mac and Windows, supporting FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Amazon S3, OpenStack Swift, Backblaze B2, Microsoft Azure & OneDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox. Here is how to connect to our servers using FileZilla.

Step 1: Download and install Cyberduck from their website https://cyberduck.io/.

  • Once you have downloaded the installation file, run it and follow the on-screen instructions to install the program.

Step 2: After installing the program, click the Open Connection button located in the top-left corner of the application window.

Step 3: Enter the FTP credentials:

  • Server: This refers to your domain name, server name, or IP address.
  • Username: This is your FTP username that you set up in your hosting account.
  • Password: This is the FTP password you set when the account was created. You can optionally check the Add to Keychain or Save password box to store the credentials for future use.
  • Port: This should default to 21.
  • Anonymous Login: Leave this unchecked.

Step 4: Click Connect to establish the connection.

  • If this is your first time connecting, you could receive a “Verify Certificate” or “Unknown Fingerprint” error. Click Allow or Continue to bypass the error.

Step 5: You should now be connected to the server. Once connected, you can begin transferring files between your local machine and your web server by dragging and dropping them from one side to the other, or by right-clicking a file or folder and selecting Upload or Download.

  • On the left, you will see the file structure of your local machine.
  • On the right, you will see the file structure of the remote server (your cPanel account).
